Principal UX Designer, Shopping Design

Kat Christiansen’s path to UX design was anything but traditional. Originally starting in advertising and marketing, she found herself frustrated in working with agencys and discovered UX—a field that perfectly blended creativity, analytical thinking, and customer advocacy. Since joining Amazon seven years ago, she has witnessed the design community evolve from a supporting role to a driving force in shaping customer experiences. As a Principal UX Designer, she collaborates closely with product and tech teams to reduce friction, solve complex problems, and ensure customer-first thinking remains at the heart of every decision.

Beyond design, Kat is passionate about mentorship and fostering community. Having navigated personal hardships, including the loss of both parents, she’s found strength in the support network she’s built at Amazon. She believes in paying it forward, helping other designers grow in their careers while guiding them through Amazon’s fast-paced culture. For Kat, great design isn’t just about innovation—it’s about the people behind it, the communities that support it, and the customers who benefit from it.
